Continued Learning

Data Entry, Editing, and Analysis

I continued to gain expertise in computerized data entry, editing, and analysis in many health program settings, including isolated areas of developing countries in East Africa. This allows programs to manage their own data and get results that they need without reliance on data contractors.

Clinical Information Systems and Electronic Medical Records

I developed, implemented, and managed clinical information systems or electronic medical records for hospital clinics, freestanding clinics, comprehensive cancer centers, and health research organizations. The focus of these systems is to enable providers to access their data and to get results that they need for program management and patient care.

Fund Accounting

I developed, implemented, and managed a fund accounting system for grants management using a relational database management system. I continue to use this experience in teaching fund accounting and enabling program directors to relate to fiscal managers and funding agencies.

Bibliographic Databases

I served as a technical consultant for POPLINE, a UNIX-based bibliographic database. We installed population libraries with bibliographic database access in East Africa and consistently updated the databases so that librarians would have access to the most recent information.
